Mural – Murphysboro Middle School
The Story Behind the Mural
The fourth mural, given as a gift to the town, exemplifies a local language arts teacher’s love for children’s literature and how she shared this passion with her sons and students. Reading and being read to was an enjoyment fostered at an early age, and that spirit has guided them throughout life, showing the power and impact that reading can have on you and the world. Books chosen for the mural are favorites from the family, selected Newbery winners, and a few highlighted local authors.
This mural was made possible through a generous donation from Monahan family.
